1st plein air pastel

this is my first attempt at plein air pastel paintings...the first one was just a practice. i almost like this one better.

this is one of the only natural (assumedly) hills ive found in chicago.

i think i like pastels...but i might like hanging out in the park watching people more.

Hi rustingmiller,

I came to you via Alina Chau's blog. I really like these pastels. How big are they? I hate the way pastels feel on my fingers, but I really like the way they look on paper.

This is what impresses me about your work: it doesn't look like everyone else's stuff. There is an author in it.

thank you all for you comments...its especially encouraging for something like this when im just trying it out for the first time.

caroline: the first pastel is about 4 x6 and the second one is about 9x12. if you dont like how they feel on your hands id try Nupastel's they are a bit smoother and a little nicer to the hands.(less of that nails on chalboard feel).

thanks again!
